||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So- you wanna race in SCCA solo2? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| SCCA solo2 is a fun form of racing, and you can drive pretty much anything you want! Most people drive their daily drivers- the same cars they drive to work each day. In SOLO2, you dont race other cars at the same time, each racer leaves the start approx 30 seconds after each other on a 90-120 second course. The course is laid out with cones, usually in a parking lot. If you go off the course and ont get back on the course at a later place, you get a "Did Not Finish", or DNF. If you knock a cone down, or out of its marked box, you get a 2 second penalty. This is added onto your finishing time. |

| "Won't that race prepped viper beat the pants off my brand X economy car?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Well, the answer is yes, it will. However- these cars are classes separately, based on their abilities, not the abilities of the drivers. Although you might share the track with full race cars, you will not be graded with them, just other cars similar to "Brand X". | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Won't that race prepped brand X economy car still beat me? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The cars, as well as make and model, are also classed by modifications. There are different classes for each level of modifications. Some classes allow some suspension modifications, some allow engine modifications. Confused? It will be quite clear once we classify your car. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What costs do I have to pay on the first day? What are these for? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| On the first day, you will have several costs to pay. SCCA car number- this is an annual fee of $15. You will be assigned a "car number", and will be required to have that number on the side of your car so we can record your times. Event charge: each event costs $25 unless you are a membor of SCCA at a national level, then it is $20, this allows you 3-4 runs (depending on schedule). Car Numbers- you can either buy a printed number (large numbers on a piece of paper) for a few dollars, or have some made up. Many competitors have magnetic signs made that display car number and class. Lunch- lunch is not catered for you, you will need to buy that youself. There is a good food cart that comes to the events and serves lots of cold drinks and hot food!! |

| What classification does my car belong in? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Tricky question. There are many classes, for everything from VW bugs to strictly race-only vehicles. To find your car class, go to the SCCA car classification page HERE. Most cars will fall into the stock or Street Prepared classes, but some will fall outside of those classes. The tech guys at the event will be able to help classify a difficult car. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
